Tim McCarver debuted with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1959 at the age of 17. As a great catcher and awesome hitter, he became a mainstay on the great Cardinals teams of the 1960s. An All-Star in 1966 and 1967, he played in four decades before retiring in 1980 and moving to the broadcast booth. A best-selling sports author as well as an Emmy-winning announcer, Tim McCarver won baseball’s Ford C. Frick Award in 2012 and was enshrined in the broadcaster’s wing of the Hall of Fame. When he recently received his own star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame, host Debbie Monterrey tells us how, STL TV’s Todd Lampley, was there to cover it all.
