Current Treasurer for the City of St. Louis, Tishaura Jones is one of four candidates vying for the job. Jones was born in St. Louis to a former City Comptroller, and has served as the Treasurer of St. Louis since 2013. She is the first African-American woman to hold the position. Before becoming Treasurer, she was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives to represent the 63rd district. As treasurer, Jones has been credited with using the office, which was widely regarded previously as an unimportant and scandal-ridden bureaucratic position, to start a financial literacy program that educates citizens, and a parking meter revenue program that helps public school kindergarten students get a college education. Ivy Hartmen has a candid discussion with Jones on her position on policies and her vision for St. Louis should she win the election.
